Introduction to the Contents of the Course

The Reader

The KAIROS Course Reader uses extracts from articles written by leading authorities and covers the four essential areas of mission concern: theology, history, and strategic concerns of missions.

1. Biblical - Missions is seen as the central theme of the word of God. Not only is it based in the Bible but is the basis of the Bible.
2. Historical - World history is looked at, not from a secular historians perspective, but from the perspective of the out working of God's redemptive purpose. It also looks at the three eras of modern mission.
3. Strategic - Concerns itself with the question, "Who are the unreached? Where are they to be found? Who is best to reach them? How can they best be reached? What is my role?
4. Cultural - Concerns itself with the complexities of crossing the cultural barriers for evangelism and church planting.

Note: KAIROS uses 7 components to teach. Group Prayer, Lecture Introductions, Growth Point Group Discussions, Short Teaching DVDs, Inspirational DVDs, Special Activities, Readings and Worksheets.

DVDs: Short teaching DVDs, by some of to days leading mission personalities, such as Ralph Winter and Don Richardson, and a host of other global mission leaders supplement the reading materials.

Lecture Introductions: We use multimedia resources to provide helpful lesson overviews, reviews and specialized devotions emphasizing important areas of each session at a deeper level..

Group Prayer: A Kairos prayer guide provides information on the world's major unreached peoples. As we pray for the unreached or least reached we begin to realize the heartbeat of God for the nations!

Worksheets: Worksheets are handed out for each chapter to reinforce the major points.

Growth Point Groups: Comprised of about five participants each, these groups provide group interaction and provide an exceptional and dynamic learning environment. The interactive aspect of these groups acts as a catalyst for learning to relate to new ideas and team development.

In Conclusion
KAIROS has the potential to be more than just a course. It can be an encounter with God. Already, scores of lives have been challenged and changed by this course. If we apply ourselves prayerfully and with diligence, these next few days/weeks could prove highly significant and immeasurably valuable
