Dear Friends:
2007 could be the most extrodinary
year we have ever experienced! Across television screens,
newspapers, magazine covers, internet and radio broadcasts, we
are exposed to apocolyptic like events that would make "Rocky"
reach for his antacids. The Bible tells us that these are times
of opportunity, for both God and the "enemy."
Many Christians don't think they can do much to change their
world. It is common, even as believers, to adopt, or make up ways
of viewing the world as "something we simply must endure
and make the best of until we either die, or the Lord returns".
In an attempt to make sense of it all, some of us immerse ourselves
in Bible prophecy and theories of the "End times." But
trying to understand how global events fit into the "Big
Picture" can be very mind-boggling!
Many of us working in missions believe the "Matthew 24:14
promise." Also, Jesus tells believers to share the Gospel
"making disciples of every nation" (=ethne'). When this
is finished, the "end" comes. People from every tribe,
language, and ethnicity will then have been "saved"
to worship the Lamb and enjoy heaven forever, etc.
In scary or uncertain times like we live in today, you and I
can, at the least, be bridges
for those who don't have a relationship with Jesus Christ and
lighthouses
for backslidden people who have lost their way. Our lives can
be signs pointing the way to a real, present and accessible God
who cares.
Walking in the Spirit and living a life that allows people to
see, feel and taste His Fruit in us may be the best opportunity
we have to introduce them to Jesus Christ. Our lives are, in effect,
pathways the Spirit of God travels upon to cross over the mysterious
unknowns between heaven and daily life on earth. Our part is simple;
live in a relationship with Jesus Christ that is motivated by
love. The rest is up to Him. Living out our faith will influence
lives.

Jesus told His Disciples to wait for
the promise of the Spirit: to receive power to be His witnesses
at home and to the whole world.

If we feel our life is on "empty," then it is time
to ask for God's fire and passion to become real in our hearts
and to show by the way we live our lives. We've all grown weary
or lost our sense of direction due to the demands life places
on us. When that happens we shouldn't condemn ourselves.Instead,
let's refocus and get back in line with what we know is God's
will. Look at every situation and encounter in our lives as a
new opportunity to introduce the reality of God's Kingdom in some
way.
As shown in the diagram below, besides
being a witness at work and at home, there are also ways we can
serve in "missions".
